The first-grader of school №2120 received the first category in swimming

Vladislav Kornev, a first-grader from Moscow school No. 2120, entered the Russian Book of Records as the youngest swimmer who received the first junior category. Also, the name of a seven-year-old boy is mentioned four times in the International Swimming Book of Records.

As Vladislav’s mother, Yulia Korneva, said, his son began to swim literally from birth: he was brought to the pool when he was 10 days old. Then there was a baby group, then training began to take place four times a week. Now “water” is already six days a week.

– Of all types of swimming, my son prefers crawl and butterfly, – says Yulia. – And the most difficult thing is to get the child out of the water after training.

In fact, Vladislav fulfilled the standard for the first youth category when he was not yet seven years old. However, the orders of the Ministry of Sports regulate that the categories of swimmers begin to be assigned only from the age of 9. Then the boy’s coaches sent a request to the Ministry of Sports, where, as an exception, the young swimmer will receive a credit classification book this academic year.

By the way, Vladislav shows such outstanding success not only in swimming: he has a second junior category in gymnastics, he studies English and Chinese in depth, goes in for equestrian sports, draws, robotics and plays the piano. When he grows up, the boy is going to get the title of international master of sports in swimming, win the Olympics and become a doctor.

“We can say that this wonderful boy has psychomotor talent, which is one of the special types of giftedness and is recognized by specialists along with mathematical, humanitarian, technical, artistic and visual,” says an expert on gifted children, director of the Institute of Pedagogy and Educational Psychology of Moscow State Pedagogical University, Professor Alexander Savenkov.

According to the expert, the biggest danger that lies in wait for such children is expressed by the metaphor about “copper pipes”. For the normal development of a gifted child, it is important that the experience of victories is combined with the experience of overcoming defeats.
