On October 21, the first flight of the upgraded fifth-generation Su-57 aircraft took place at the airfield of the Gromov Flight Research Institute. The flight lasted 56 minutes and passed without remarks, informs United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).
The plane was piloted by Hero of the Russian Federation Sergei Bogdan.
Su-57 has supersonic cruising speed, capable of maneuvering with high g-forces and equipped with advanced electronics. The fifth generation fighter was created using stealth technologies. The first flight was made in 2010.
Now the aircraft is testing a set of on-board equipment with extended functionality, intelligent support for the crew, as well as the possibility of using new types of weapons, the UAC notes.
In May, a TASS source informedthat fifth-generation Su-57 fighters are used in Ukraine. There were no official statements about this then.
