A RIA Novosti source reports that in mid-June, the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (Izhmekh) will assemble the first batch of new Russian Udav pistols chambered for 9 × 21 mm. After that, they will pass control tests.
If the test results confirm the declared technical characteristics, Izhmekh will begin full-scale serial production, the pistols will begin to enter the troops. The production will be supervised by the leading design engineer of Izhmekh, Honored Designer of the Russian Federation Vladimir Yarygin.
The pistol complex “Udav” – the newest 9-mm self-loading pistol – previously successfully passed experimental military operation. It has demonstrated reliable performance and high ballistic performance in a variety of conditions, including extreme temperatures.
According to the developers, the new design solutions allow the Udav pistol to have technical advantages over foreign competitors from CZ, Glock, Walther and Colt.
