The finish of the ski marathon in memory of I.P. Farkhutdinov will be held in the city park of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

The First Committee of the International Sakhalin Ski Marathon in memory of I.P. Farkhutdinov was held within the walls of the Triumph ski and biathlon complex. During the event, it became known that the finish of the competition will take place in the city park of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, reported on Thursday, December 8, in the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Sakhalin Region.

In the island region, preparations for the event began three months before the start. This is due to the fact that in 2023 the finish area will change. Skiers running 30 and 50 km will complete the distance in the city park named after Gagarin, like 16 years ago. Especially for this, the specialists of the SShOR of winter sports will create a new track.

“An important point for us is the safety of the participants throughout the course. Therefore, representatives of the Medical Unit, the traffic police, the regional ministry of sports, the center for sports training, the ministry of culture and archives, the ministry of health, Gostekhnadzor, and the administration of Korsakov have gathered here today. Together, we decided on interaction and areas of responsibility,” said Mikhail Shamsutdinov, director of the winter sports school.

A distinctive feature of the Sakhalin ski marathon, which is part of a series of unique competitions Russialoppet, is the distance from point to point through the mountain range. Athletes who will go to the 50-kilometer distance from Lesnoy will turn into the mountains only 10 kilometers after the start. Prior to this, the route runs along the coast of the Sea of ​​Okhotsk.

“Nature and the track have always been a hallmark of the Sakhalin marathon. The most beautiful places. Participants who come from other regions always note this. At the finish line, athletes will receive a medal, delicious tea and lunch. Photographers will work throughout the route. Each skier will have a photo as a keepsake. Then we will hold a flower award ceremony, and we will award the marathon runners in the Oktyabr cinema and concert hall,” Mikhail Shamsutdinov added.

Registration for participation in the competition takes place on the website https://skisakhmarathon.ru/. Already, the declared lists include athletes from Vladivostok, Moscow, Rybinsk, Yaroslavl, Syktyvkar, Kazan, Petrozavodsk, Krasnoyarsk, Podolsk, Murmansk, Omsk and the cities of the Sakhalin region.

“This year the total prize fund will be 2 million rubles. Cash prizes will be given not only to athletes who took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, but also 4th, 5th, and 6th places at a distance of 50 km among men and women. The winner will receive 300 thousand rubles for the first place. There is something to fight for,” concluded the director of the SShOR of winter sports.

Also, young athletes from 3 to 6 years old will be able to try their hand at a distance of 500 m, from 7 to 10 years old – 1 km. For a distance of 5 km, applications are accepted from children 11 years and older. Participants are required to provide a medical certificate and insurance policy.
