The final of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in geography has ended

The results of the last stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in geography have been summed up. In the finals of the Olympiad, Moscow schoolchildren won 58 diplomas, including 17 winners’ diplomas and 41 winners’ diplomas. The absolute winners of the Olympiad were Tikhon Pulyaev, an eighth grade student of school No. 1543 (he scored the maximum number of points among ninth graders), as well as an eleventh grade student of the International School of Tomorrow, Ilya Kon.

All participants of the final, and there were more than 250 of them, went through three rounds: theoretical, test and field. In the first two rounds, the children answered questions in various areas of geography, as part of the field school students demonstrated their skills and abilities in orienteering, for example, they searched for the azimuths of the main streets of Nizhny Novgorod and measured the height of the towers of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.

Also, within the framework of the finals of the Olympiad, an intellectual quiz “Competition of Experts” was held for its participants, in which the team of Muscovites took the first place. The team included six people: 11th grade student of the Intellectual school Zacheriy Sakhtarek, 10th grade student of the University Gymnasium of Moscow State University Angelina Popova, graduate of the Letovo school Yan Nekrashevich, 11th grade student of the Lyceum of the Financial University Oleg Mikhailov, eleventh grader Pavel Lipatov from the school of the Center for Teaching Excellence, as well as a 10th grade student of the HSE Lyceum Danila Gavrilov.

According to one of the winners of the Olympiad, a student of the 11th grade of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence, Anton Murtazaev, he became one of the best in the test round, scoring 26 points out of 26 possible.

– I did not expect this from myself. I just concentrated and wanted to show my knowledge, but it was not without luck. Of course, I dreamed of winning, but these thoughts were illusory, – said the students. – I have a great Olympic history. From the seventh grade, he only began to fit into this area, in the ninth grade he went to the region and passed the training camp, but only became a participant in the final All-Russian Olympiad. In the tenth grade, he won the Olympiad.

The All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren takes place in four stages – school, municipal, regional and All-Russian. And it is held in 24 subjects. The winners of the Olympiad receive the right to out-of-competition admission to the university in the chosen direction, the prize-winners – benefits when entering the institute, in particular, 100 points in the profile subject.
