The figure skater Trusova revealed three serious problems

Alexandra Trusova almost lost third place at the second stage of the Velvet Season Russian Grand Prix. This fact haunts many already, they say that Sasha was on a pedestal, because the name did not work. Many more are surprised: why did Trusova come to Sochi at all, not being in shape?

Yes, Sasha in Sochi did not benefit from the word “absolutely”. Was not a Russian Rocket. Did not perform a single ultra-si jump. She wasn’t herself. Practically did not show new programs, because when there is no form, the presentation is meaningless. And, starting from solid guesses, how and what it might look like, there is no point in either praising or scolding.

New images? So far, we only know this: Trusova performs a short program to the song of a French singer. Free – under the famous composition I Believe I Can Fly.

But the whole paradox is that Trusova did not lose from the same word “absolutely”. Coach Sokolovskaya met her at the side with the words: “Everything will be fine. Well done for coming.” Such a performance in Sochi was not a surprise for both. They knew what they were getting into by not allowing the opportunity to start the season at a later stage.

So they asked her: Sasha, after all, everything is difficult – both the new coach, and the new programs that were set up quickly, and the recovery from a back injury, which everyone learned about only at the control skates … Aren’t there too many problems?

Alexandra was laconic: “In general, everything has always been not very easy for me, so I’m no longer used to it.” And then she summed up her performance in Sochi in a rather unexpected way: “My first competition after the Olympics. It’s always been hard for me to perform, so it’s not about preparation, I’m just worried. Of course, after the Olympic season, it’s harder to roll in. But I tried.”

She tried. Although I knew that there would be a “bit”. And for the lack of elements familiar to her and the public – what is the Rocket without quadruple jumps? And for the fact that there is still no banal physical form, although she herself does not think so, at least she says something else: “The form is normal, it just didn’t work out.”

There will be a bit for programs that are simply impossible to polish in three weeks.

For leaving a month ago from Eteri Tutberidze. “It was my initiative. Nobody was against it. It happened quickly. I don’t see the point in commenting.” And again: “There are no conflicts. Was there a bouquet? Eteri Georgievna does not like flowers.”

She could not go to this stage, but she did. Without referring to the injury: “I doubt that something can heal in three weeks. I won’t talk about recovery from injury, but I’m better.” She didn’t hide, she didn’t wait until she became the old Rocket with a new choreographic face.

And riveted the attention of absolutely everyone, creating intrigue for the whole season. To get in shape in public – for this, character is also needed. But performing is in any case better than not performing. This means that this desire itself has not been killed. After all, this was precisely what worried many: would Sasha find the strength in herself after Beijing to return, was she burnt out?

This season is not only, as it is already customary to say, an opportunity for experiments: there are no international starts, but in a calmer atmosphere you can come up with something that will surprise you after returning. Not only the time for the emergence of new stars who have to mature on home ice. (And the stage in Sochi turned out to be rich in emotions for Adelia Petrosyan, who became gold, and Sofia Samodelkina, who won silver, each has something to be proud of and on the basis of which to draw competitive conclusions.)

The opened season is also an expectation of the former level from those who have been and continue to be the headliners of figure skating in recent years. We do not know the answer, whether Sasha will return to the previous level. Trusova is still shaking off the Beijing Olympics. But, going through a far from simple personal story, complicated by the fate of all Russian sports with suspension from starts, she did not seem to stop.

… So Sasha was asked: should we expect six jumps in four turns from her in one program? So she laughed and answered: “If you want, you can wait.” Two weeks later, Trusova will perform at the next stage of the Russian Grand Prix.
