The Federation Council called on the parliaments of the world’s states to give a principled assessment of the “crime of the Kyiv regime – the blowing up of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.” Text of the appeal published on the website of the upper house of parliament.

Russian senators refer to the fact that Russia warned the Secretary General and the UN Security Council about the threat of such a terrorist act in October 2022. The appeal says that Ukraine did this, “realizing the impossibility of capturing the territories of new subjects of the Russian Federation” by military means.

“Responsibility for the terrorist act at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is borne by the Kiev regime and the states of the collective West covering its crimes,” the Federation Council notes.

The senators insist on establishing the circumstances of the incident and on full compensation for damage to the citizens of the Russian Federation and the ecology of the region. The Federation Council calls on the parliaments of other countries to assess the attacks on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and direct efforts to prevent new acts of international terrorism.

The breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station occurred on the night of June 6. As a result of the incident, an uncontrolled discharge of water began, the level of which reached about 11 m. Earlier, a local emergency regime was introduced on the territory of the district, and an emergency regime was also introduced on the territory of the Kherson region.

After the incident, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Kyiv had committed a deliberate act of sabotage, and stressed that the Russian side denied accusations that it was allegedly involved in this incident. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the incident a barbaric action by the Ukrainian authorities, which led to a large-scale environmental and humanitarian catastrophe.
