The Federation Council approved a law allowing the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) without reference to specific fields. The changes are aimed at supporting production and increasing LNG exports. About it reports Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.

The right to export LNG is granted to companies with state participation that are users of onshore subsoil areas, wholly or partially located north of 67 degrees north latitude (Krasnoyarsk regionNenets, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug), as well as companies implementing large-scale LNG production projects in accordance with the strategic planning documents of the Russian Federation in the energy sector.

Deputy Head of the Ministry of Energy Anastasia Bondarenko explained that the innovations will create conditions for increasing LNG production in the amount of more than 100 million tons per year from 2030, which in turn will increase Russia’s export potential.

“The monetization of large gas reserves from promising LNG projects will also help create additional jobs, develop the production of domestic equipment for LNG production, and achieve a significant multiplier effect in a number of other industries,” Bondarenko explained.

Department of Energy suggested allow the export of liquefied natural gas to companies that develop subsoil areas located north of 67 degrees north latitude in May 2022.
