The Federation Council approved the impersonal publication of declarations of parliamentarians

The Federation Council approved a law that will allow deputies and senators to publish information about their income and expenses in an anonymized form. The law will also allow depriving deputies of their powers who have not attended parliamentary meetings for more than six months without good reason.

According to the law, deputies and senators will continue to submit declarations of income, expenses and property. At the same time, they will be published in an anonymized form, without personal data. Also, parliamentarians of regional and municipal legislative assemblies who work on a non-permanent basis will only be able to file reports if their family members or they themselves make transactions that exceed their income over the past three years.

Previously, some deputies reported about plans to continue to publish their income declarations as before. Among them are State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, as well as deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Olga Alimova and Mikhail Matveev, A Just Russia – For Truth Valery Gartung and LDPR Alexei Didenko.

The law must enter in force from 1 March. Chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction Pavel Krasheninnikov spoke “Kommersant” that the abolition of the public declaration of property for parliamentarians is necessary for the “protection of personal data.” According to Vedomosti, the government and presidential administration are also considering the possibility of publishing anonymous declarations.
