The Federation Council (FC) elected the former head of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) Vladimir Bulavin as chairman of the defense committee, reports TASS. In this post, he replaced the former commander-in-chief of the Aerospace Forces Viktor Bondarev.

The committee also included a senator from the Zaporozhye region, the former head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin. Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko presented him with a certificate and badge of a senator of the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Bulavin served as presidential envoy in the Northwestern Federal District from 2013 to 2016, after which he headed the Federal Customs Service. In February 2023, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin fired Mr. Bulavin due to his reaching 70 years of age.
