The Federation Council announced the need to legally ban the work of PMCs inside Russia

The first deputy head of the international committee of the Federation Council, Vladimir Dzhabarov, believes that private military companies (PMCs) should work exclusively outside of Russia. In his opinion, only volunteer organizations that have previously signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense can work on the territory of the country.
“Probably, it is necessary to state in law that private military companies can only work outside of Russia, performing tasks that are in the interests of the Russian Federation, only volunteer organizations that have signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense can be inside the country,” Mr. Dzhabarov told RIA Novosti.
According to the senator, when PMCs perform their tasks in Africa or Syria, “it’s clear there, they help.” Vladimir Dzhabarov believes that only the Ministry of Defense should have all the powers in this area in Russia.
In early June, the Ministry of Defense issued an order according to which all PMCs participating in the military operation in Ukraine are required to conclude a contract with the defense department. Ministry of Defense was talking aboutthat volunteer organizations will sign contracts with him before July 1.
On June 23, the founder of Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, accused the Ministry of Defense of hitting his company’s positions and announced a “justice march” on Moscow. Earlier, Mr. Prigozhin repeatedly announced his refusal to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense.
The situation with Evgeny Prigozhin was settled by the evening of June 24 through the mediation of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The head of the PMC said that his fighters had gone to field camps. Mr. Prigozhin himself must leave for Belarus. However, according to Kommersant, the case of organizing an armed rebellion (Article 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against Yevgeny Prigozhin continues be investigated.
