The Federal Customs Service accused Lithuania of sabotaging the work of a checkpoint near Kaliningrad

Lithuania is deliberately creating queues to leave the Kaliningrad region in order to cause discontent among citizens. This was stated by the acting head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia Ruslan Davydov after a meeting of the heads of customs services of the CIS countries in Dushanbe, transmits TASS.

“The way our Lithuanian colleagues are acting today, by their inaction artificially creating queues at the checkpoint, is a violation of both humanitarian norms and rules,” he said.

Davydov noted that essential goods, medicine and food are imported into Russia by road. “But even in this situation, we observe silent sabotage on the part of our neighbors, a desire to harm us,” he said.

According to the acting head of the Federal Customs Service, Lithuania is deliberately delaying the crossing time in order to “cause dissatisfaction among Russian citizens with multi-day waits to cross the border.” He said that Lithuanian customs cites a shortage of people, carries out inspections of vehicles even when this is not required, and does it slowly. Davydov called this position of the Lithuanian authorities unconscionable and inhumane.

Queues of trucks at the only international automobile checkpoint “Chernyshevskoe” operating in the Kaliningrad region on the border with Lithuania formed in early October. Since October 6, the number of cars in traffic jams has exceeded 100 every day. October 11, queue grew up to 165 heavy trucks. October 12 Kaliningrad regional customs reportedthat 130 trucks entered Russia per day, and 122 trucks entered Lithuania from the Russian Federation. As of 09:00 (10:00 Moscow time) on October 12, there was no queue to enter the Russian Federation, while 130 vehicles were waiting to leave.

According to TASS, at 07:00 (08:00 Moscow time) on October 13, there were about 130 trucks in line in front of the control point. The lag behind the reserved time in the electronic queue is 60 hours.
