The FCS said that the volume of exports of some items exceeded the figures for 2019

For some items, the volume of exports from Russia in the first quarter of 2023 exceeded the results of the same period in 2019. About this TASS declared Acting Head of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia Ruslan Davydov.

According to him, because of the sanctions imposed on Russia, the volume of exports did not suffer much, if we do not take into account gas and oil. “Export – oil and gas workers have certain difficulties, but they will also adapt. Otherwise, our volumes did not suffer, and if compared with 2019, then for some positions they even increased,” he said.

According to the FCS, in the first quarter of 2023, the service transferred 1.288 trillion rubles to the federal budget. A year earlier, the figure reached almost 2 trillion rubles.

In the first quarter of 2019, the volume of exports amounted to $101.2 billion, according to the FCS agency. In January 2022, compared to the previous year, exports increased by 69.9% to $45.8 billion. In March 2022, the customs service closed foreign trade statistics. The Russian oil industry came under serious pressure after the strengthening of anti-Russian sanctions in 2022. The main buyers of Russian oil – the United States, Great Britain and the EU countries – imposed an embargo on its imports. Also, the countries of the European Union and the G7 (Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, the USA, France and Japan) introduced a price ceiling for Russian oil at $60 per barrel from December 5. As a response, the President of Russia signed a decree on the application of special economic measures in the fuel and energy sector, which imply a ban on supplies if the contracts “directly or indirectly provide for the use of a price cap mechanism.”
