This terrible case at one time shook the suburbs. Right from the playground, an adult uncle took away a five-year-old girl, the daughter of guest workers from Tajikistan. A few hours later she – dead, tormented – was found in a bag in a vacant lot. It was the summer of 2018, since then many new tragedies have occurred, but the death of little Khuvaida is still remembered in Serpukhov, where the tragedy occurred. And finally, the verdict is not the one that the baby’s parents were counting on.
Recall that Alexander Semin took the girl away from the playground near her house on July 22, 2018. He took her to his apartment, where he raped and strangled her, and carried the corpse to a wasteland.
In hot pursuit, the crime was solved. Already in the course of the investigation, terrible facts came to light. Semin has molested children before. He lived in a neighboring yard and repeatedly approached the girls with obscene proposals. Parents complained to the police, but the district police officer Kuznetsov only brushed it aside. The last time this happened was shortly before the murder of Huwayda. As a result, the commissioner was expelled from the authorities and sentenced to 10 months of corrective labor for negligence.
But why didn’t they pass sentence on Semin himself for so long? After his arrest, he fell into a reactive state and became, as they say, unfit for justice. All this time the man (if such a definition is appropriate here) spent in a psychiatric hospital. Healed. And finally appeared before Themis.
According to Olga Vradiy, senior assistant to the head of the Main Investigative Committee of the ICR for the Moscow Region, the evidence collected in the criminal case and the conclusions of a dozen examinations formed the basis of the prosecution. By the verdict of the Moscow Regional Court, Semin was sentenced to 24 years in prison in a strict regime colony with restriction of freedom for 2 years.
Many were dissatisfied with the decision of the court. After all, the investigation managed to prove that in addition to Khuvayda, in 2015 and 2017, Semin committed indecent acts against a minor and two little girls. Why not a life sentence? This question haunts Abdulsalam, the father of little Khuwayda. He told MK about his intention to appeal the court decision and another tragedy in his family.
– Abdulsalam, you were present at the meeting, do you think the judge’s decision is fair?
– No. I believe that Semin deserves a life sentence.
How was your life after the tragedy?
– I immediately sent my family to Tajikistan. He himself remained in Russia to await the verdict. Two years ago my son was born. And two months ago my daughter died, she had cerebral palsy.
Are you going to return your family to Russia?
– No. The wife did not have time to recover from the death of Vaida, as another daughter died. My wife is now very unwell: she has heart problems.
— What are your plans?
– I was left without a job, we live only thanks to the Embassy of Tajikistan and the support of caring people. I need to support my family, I am the father of three children.
“Didn’t the killer’s relatives offer you help?”
– They offered, but it’s dirty money. I do not need them.
Are you going to contest the verdict?
– I think yes. I need to come to my senses. Talk to relatives. But most likely I will file a complaint. In order for others to think a hundred times before committing such crimes. Pedophiles do not deserve leniency.
