The fate of the musicians from the Junket group, who came to Odessa late last week to give a charity concert in favor of the residents of Kherson and Nikolaev regions affected by the Kakhovka flood, became known, and who instead of performing were taken to the military registration and enlistment office.

The musicians were taken right at the station. The great Russian dissident writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn warned in one of his novels that the railway is one of the most unsafe places when it comes to persecution by the state. Near the Odessa railway station, employees of several Territorial picking centers are on duty around the clock. They launched a plan: to shave as many compatriots over the age of 18 into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For some reason, the capital’s musicians were not warned about this ambush. After an accelerated medical examination, the guests of Odessa were assigned … to the elite 95th Airborne Assault Brigade, stationed in the vicinity of Zhytomyr.

The scandalous actions of Ukrainian recruiters did not please many residents of European countries. The military leadership of Ukraine was forced to heed the calls of the international community. They refused to take the musicians into the stormtroopers, they say, they are not suitable in terms of physical condition.

As a result, the band’s frontman, drummer Junky Soulz, and his partners ended up in Gaisin, Vinnytsia region. They say that they were appointed as musicians of a military band.

In this regard, it is appropriate to recall the famous phrase of the great Russian commander Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov, which has survived to this day: “But I consider music a useful thing. Especially loud music, mainly a drum.”

In the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade, it seems that from now on, not only Junky Soulz, but his other two comrades in misfortune will have to deal with the daily playing of percussion instruments.

Smilen Markov, lecturer at Sofia University, is one of those who joined the fight against the brutal arbitrariness of the military registration and enlistment offices from the very first hours. “There is sarcasm in the kidnapping of these people, which is typical for eastern satrapies,” Markov wrote on the social network. “Perhaps the only plus of its kind: they are not at the front itself, but in a military band. They are both in prison and in a golden cage “.

The Bulgarian public figure urged Volodymyr Zelensky to show a gesture of goodwill, let people go so that they can return to their homes, think about their musical career, discuss it with their families, complete other previous commitments, prepare … “And then, if you wish, – they will go to the army band themselves,” suggests Smilen Markov.

As for other similar cases of forcible sending of Ukrainian men to the front, Markov expressed hope for the speedy cancellation of “the martial law regime illegally introduced in Ukraine.” After that, the state must abandon “all repressive measures against Ukrainian men, as well as other citizens and institutions of civil society.”
