The fat cat Victor, who was refused to be allowed on board the plane, has died

A Russian blogger from Vladivostok reported the death of his beloved cat, who became known throughout the country several years ago due to a scandal at the airport. Fat cat Victorwho was refused to be allowed on the plane because of his “excess weight” and whom his owner nevertheless brought home by cunning, lived a more exciting life than many people.

The whole country learned about Victor and his owner Mikhail Galin in 2019, after a man on social networks shared an unpleasant story with a good ending. Mikhail said that when he was flying home with Victor and making a transfer in Moscow, representatives of the Russian airline refused to take his cat into the cabin. The reason was “overweight” – the cat weighed 10 kg, no heavier than 8 kg was allowed into the cabin, and they were ready to carry Victor only as luggage. Knowing how dangerous it is to transport animals in the luggage compartment, the cat’s owner refused to fly. Soon he came up with a trick: friends brought a similar but slender cat to the airport, she was checked in for the flight, and before boarding her place was taken by “fat” Victor. No one on the plane noticed the change. However, Mikhail, wanting to draw people’s attention to the problem of ensuring the safety of animals, told this story on the social network, and the airline was the first to react – the carrier, with a scandal, deprived its regular passenger of earned award miles. After this, Mikhail and Victor increasingly became heroes of media publications.

A couple of years later, Mikhail said that the same airline revised its rules for transporting pets and softened some provisions. A number of other Russian carriers have also become more animal-friendly. And Victor has traveled more than once in the company of his beloved and loving owner.

“A cat who lived his life with dignity and did more for this World than many people,” Mikhail wrote on the social network on the evening of January 5. “Run along the rainbow, Victor the cat. Soft clouds.”
