The farewell ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at the main entrance to the Tatneft Arena. The funeral service for Igor Nikolaevich will take place at the Arskoye cemetery in Kazan, and the funeral will also take place there, according to the official website of the Ak Bars HC.
Igor Smirnov died on September 22 at the age of 75.
Earlier, the Ak Bars hockey club expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Smirnov worked at the Kazan club for 43 years and became “the personification of the highest professionalism, diligence, and an example of selfless devotion to Ak Bars,” the condolences emphasize.
