Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called an emergency meeting of the Government Committee in connection with the “crisis situation” amid reports of the fall of two missiles in the country and the death of two of its citizens. Morawiecki’s spokesman announced this on Twitter.

Radio ZET reported about the fall of two rockets on the territory of the Polish village of Przewodov in the Lublin Voivodeship. According to him, the rockets hit the grain dryers. As a result of the incident, according to ZET, two people died. Police, prosecutors and the army are on the scene.

The Pentagon has not yet been able to confirm the information that it was Russian missiles that fell in Poland, said a spokesman for the department, General Patrick Ryder, on Twitter. According to him, in the US this message is taken seriously and checked.

“We have made it very clear that we will defend every inch of NATO territory,” the general added, reiterating that the reports of missiles have not yet been confirmed.

It is possible that parts of a Russian missile shot down by Ukrainian air defenses fell, Mariusz Gerszewski, journalist of the Polish radio ZET, said on Twitter, citing sources. He also added that Polish Air Force planes took off from an airfield near Tomaszow Lubelski.

The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement according to which statements about the alleged fall of “Russian” missiles in the area of ​​​​the settlement of Pshevoduv are a deliberate provocation in order to escalate the situation. “No strikes were made against targets near the Ukrainian-Polish state border by Russian means of destruction,” the military department’s Telegram channel says.

The Russian stock market began to decline rapidly during the evening session on the Moscow Exchange: if the benchmark fell by almost 1% at the end of the main trades, then after reports of missiles in Poland it fell by 4%. But after the Pentagon’s statements, the trend has changed – at the moment, the decline is already 2.9%.
