The congress of the party “A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth” (SRZP) supported the candidacy of Vladimir Putin in the Russian presidential elections in 2024, a Kommersant correspondent reports. The event takes place in Moscow.
The question of supporting Mr. Putin’s candidacy was put to a vote by the Chairman of the SRZP, Sergei Mironov. “We were the first political force that decided that in the presidential elections we would nominate and support Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin: this is the consolidated opinion of our entire party,” the politician recalled. The congress delegates supported the leader’s proposal unanimously.
Before this, Mr. Mironov described the tasks that he sets for party members for the upcoming campaign. “We definitely need to work on turnout… High turnout is a response to sanctions, Russophobia, attempts to erase Russia from history and culture,” said the leader of the Right Russia Party. At the same time, Sergei Mironov expects that the SRZP will participate in collecting signatures from citizens in support of Vladimir Putin’s nomination: “Why not instruct our party to collect signatures in regions where the governors are either communists or representatives of the LDPR?”
Voting in the presidential elections will take place over three days, from March 15 to 17, 2024. CEC reported about 29 candidates for nomination.
