The expert explained which cars will most often be stolen in three years

Anton Shaparin, vice-president of the National Automobile Union (NAU), in an interview with Sputnik radio, told how the preferences of car thieves may change due to the appearance of new brands on the Russian market.

According to the expert, with the advent of new Chinese brands on the Russian market, the preferences of car thieves may change. In the next three years, as the demand for Chinese cars in Russia grows, the interest of intruders in these cars will also increase. Shaparin believes that the Kaiyi sedan, produced in Kaliningrad, will be in particular danger.

He explains: “Within three years, Chinese thefts will increase, including both total thefts and thefts followed by stripping or replacement of plates. I think the biggest threat will be the Kaiyi sedan, as the most affordable car that will be in demand. in a taxi. This brand is assembled at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. When production reaches its maximum capacity, the car will become one of the leaders in the number of thefts, as it will be in great demand.”

However, Shaparin notes that the attention of car thieves will also be attracted by those new brands of cars that will be widely used in the domestic market. He adds: “As for other Chinese brands, we should pay attention to which ones will become the most mass-produced cars. For example, crossovers from China will not greatly affect the theft statistics, as their sales will be limited.”

According to the expert, BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz cars are unlikely to be stolen, as they are equipped with reliable protection systems. However, the two models Hyundai and KIA will remain at the top of the list of cars that are most often stolen.
