Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Natural Resources Alexander Zakondyrin spoke on the topic of draining water from Fukushima. This is reported “Russian newspaper”.
According to the expert, fears are due to the possible accumulation of “atomic” tritium in products, especially in fish. At the same time, he noted that tritium belongs to the alkaline group, which is characterized by uniform distribution and rapid excretion from the body.
In addition, the specialist stressed that Fukushima-1 is located on the east coast of the Japanese Islands, so water will be dumped into the Pacific Ocean. Based on this, it will not fall into the Sea of Japan, which washes the eastern shores of Primorye, he specified.
In addition, Zakondyrin added that it is necessary to ensure the most open and public process of international control over the discharge of polluted water from Fukushima-1 with the participation of scientists from the Russian Federation at all stages of work.
