Military expert Murakhovsky: the experience of the Northern Military District has shown a decrease in the role of tanks on the battlefield
The experience of a special military operation shows that modern tanks are beginning to lose their role in the combat zone, so military equipment must undergo significant modifications to maintain its main functions. This statement was made by military expert and editor-in-chief of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine Viktor Murakhovsky.
He emphasized that the main task of the tank is to hit targets with direct fire while maintaining its combat effectiveness under the influence of enemy weapons. At the same time, the expert stated that the tank is still the main offensive and protected unit.
“At the same time, the experience of the North Military District shows that today the main tank in combat operations is increasingly turning into a “cart for a gun” and carries out artillery missions, including from closed positions,” Murakhovsky said.
According to him, today tanks are used separately in military strikes, which leads to non-tank tactics.
The editor-in-chief of Arsenal of the Fatherland added that due to the huge number of drones on the battlefield, tanks must be equipped with passive protection and an active anti-drone system.
