The Shcherbinsky Court of Moscow authorized the detention of the former head of the Kommunarsky Defense Ministry of Russia, Andrei Turgenev, accused of exceeding official powers and organizing illegal migration.

As the press service of the court reported on Friday, April 5, the court granted the corresponding request from the investigation, Turgenev will remain under arrest at least until June 2, 2024.

There are two more defendants in the Turgenev case, one of them is an employee of the same police department that was led by the arrested person. The place of work and position of the third person involved is not reported.

Turgenev has already been dismissed from the internal affairs bodies on negative grounds. The deserved punishment for the crime charged to him will have to be determined by the court.

Meanwhile, it became known about the difficulties that migrants faced when wanting to get from Turkmenistan to Russia. It was already very problematic for Turkmen citizens to leave the country, and after the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, even those who had already received job invitations and were processing visas can’t buy tickets.
