In Norway they talked about nitrogen pollution due to the conflict in Ukraine
Norwegian MP Lars Haltbrekken said that the Ukrainian conflict leads to a situation with nitrogen pollution of the local atmosphere.
A member of the Norwegian Parliament, in an address to Environment Minister Andreas Eriksen, said that the Chemring Nobel explosives plant had previously received permission to increase nitrogen emissions from 40 tons per year to 200 tons.
“Such actions are justified by the conflict in Ukraine. For a fjord already suffering from nitrogen pollution, the increase in emissions is very serious,” said Haltbrekken.
He asked the minister about neutralizing the consequences of such emissions. Specifically, will there be an initiative that would require Chemring Nobel and other companies to set aside money for a fund that could be used to clean up nitrogen emissions.
