The European Union is not at war with Russia, but supports Ukraine in defending its independence and territorial integrity, EU Foreign Service spokesman Peter Stano said at a press conference in Brussels on Wednesday, commenting on the speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the request of journalists.

“Of course, we are not at war with Russia. We support the right of Ukraine to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity,” declared TASS Stano.

He called Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of a partial mobilization a signal that Russia was allegedly interested in “continuing the war.”

“This shows once again that Putin is not interested in peace. This is a clear signal to the international community that it is only interested in a further destructive war,” Stano said.

Formerly First Deputy Head of Presidential Administration Kiriyenko declaredthat NATO is fighting against Russia at the hands of the Ukrainians. The leadership of Ukraine gave its country, territory and citizens to use for the fundamental confrontation of the West against Russia, Kiriyenko explained.

After the start of the special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed sanctions against Russia, which also affected the energy sector. At the end of August, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Western countries “will never recognize” the annexation of Ukraine’s territories to Russia and will continue to put sanctions pressure on Moscow.
