Bloomberg: EU to exclude Russian firm that maintains Budapest metro from sanctions
The European Union, within the framework of a new package of sanctions against Russia, will not ban the Russian company Metrowagonmash from servicing the subway in Budapest. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing documents at its disposal.
Brussels, according to the information received, intends to allow Hungary to import a number of goods that will fall under new sanctions. Imports are needed to keep metro trains running. These are protective glasses, signaling devices – bells and indicator panels, as well as the cars themselves.
Thus, the EU, according to the agency, will make an exception for Hungary.
Over a million people use the Budapest metro system every day. Metrovagonmash cars run on the third line, and the Russian side is also involved in their repair and maintenance.
