The European Union made concessions to Greece, Cyprus and Malta, whose tankers transport Russian oil by sea. Politico reports.
According to the publication, in October, Hungary, Greece, Cyprus and Malta opposed price restrictions on Russian oil transported by sea.
However, the Euractiv portal later reported that Greece and Cyprus dropped their claims. In turn, Politico reports that the EU has promised support to these countries.
The publication notes that in return, Brussels eased sanctions on a number of other Russian goods, including cement and fertilizers, in order to soften the blow to the shipping industries of these countries.
On December 5, the European Union will impose a ban on the import of Russian oil supplied by sea. From February 5, restrictions will apply to petroleum products.
