The authorities of the European Union have excluded the ex-governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov from the sanctions list. This information is available in the official EU magazine.
As specified, the sanctions list was adjusted on the basis of a court decision issued following the consideration of the appeal of Ovsyannikov, who asked to be removed from sanctions.
He filed a lawsuit with the EU court in November 2020, stating that he “suffers economic damage as a result of sanctions that prevent him from carrying out any economic or entrepreneurial activity” in the EU, in particular from doing business in Cyprus.
Ovsyannikov is a Russian statesman and politician.
- Governor of Sevastopol from September 18, 2017 to July 11, 2019.
- Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation (2015-2016, 2019-2020).
- In April 2020, he was expelled from the United Russia party and removed from his post after a scandal at Izhevsk Airport.
