The European Gymnastics Assembly voted against the return of Russians

The General Assembly of European Gymnastics voted against the return of athletes from Russia and Belarus to competitions from January 1, 2024. Thus, the assembly did not comply with the decision of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), European Gymnastics said in a message on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
As European Gymnastics indicated, Russian and Belarusian officials cannot be accredited for artistic gymnastics competitions. In July 2023 FIG reportedthat athletes from Russia and Belarus who did not speak out in support of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine and are not associated with the armed forces will be allowed to compete under the auspices of the organization in a neutral status.
Russian and Belarusian gymnasts were suspended from participation in competitions in March 2022 due to the start of a military operation on the territory of Ukraine. The list of disciplines in which international competitions are held includes sports and rhythmic gymnastics, sports aerobics, sports acrobatics, trampolining and parkour.
