The EU wanted to deprive Hungary of its voting rights because of its position on Ukraine

EU member states are considering the possibility of depriving Hungary of its voting rights in order to conclude an agreement on the allocation of funds to Ukraine, writes the Financial Times (FT).
As the publication reports, citing European diplomats, the European Union may apply Article 7 of the 2007 Treaty on the European Union, which makes it possible to deprive a country of its voting rights in connection with a violation of European law. This process could be blocked by any other EU member, but, as the publication claims, after the recent elections in Poland, there is “no guaranteed defender” of Hungary in the European Union.
