The EU is looking for a plan B for financing Ukraine, bypassing Hungary

Why Hungary vetoed aid to Ukraine
On December 15, at the EU summit, Orban vetoed the allocation of 50 billion euros in aid to Ukraine (33 billion euros in loans, 17 billion euros in grants for the period until 2027) due to frozen EU grants to Hungary.
Brussels in 2022 suspended the allocation of 30 billion euros to Budapest until it fulfills a number of requirements. Among them are ensuring academic freedom, protecting the rights of the LGBT community (in Russia the LGBT movement is recognized as extremist and banned), as well as recognition of the supremacy of European law over national law.
On December 13, the European Union agreed to release frozen 10 billion euros for Hungary after receiving clarification on claims regarding rule of law issues in the republic.
