The vast majority of European Union (EU) leaders support Ukraine, but some members actually have diverging interests. At the next EU summit in Brussels, which will take place from October 26 to 27, it is planned to discuss the possibility of further funding for Kyiv. Funds can be allocated from Russian assets. This is reported by RIA News.
The meeting will prioritize the conflict in the Middle East, while also considering new sanctions against Russia. In addition, it is expected that Brussels may discuss the allocation of funds for Ukraine from confiscated Russian assets.
The American Council on Foreign Relations reported that the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Great Britain and the European Commission confiscated $300 billion from the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, of which over $200 billion are in European accounts.
The West is studying legal mechanisms for the transfer of Russian assets to Ukraine, but they do not yet know how to do this.
