The EU imposed sanctions against the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Deputy Mayor of Moscow

The European Union imposed sanctions on 12 people and five organizations that it called responsible for human rights violations in Russia. About it reported on the website of the Council of the EU.
The EU sanctions included Moscow Vice Mayor Natalya Sergunina, the capital’s Information Technology Department and its head Eduard Lysenko, the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service Arkady Gostev, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the capital and his head Oleg Baranov, Electronic Moscow JSC, and others. Also on the list were the head of the colony in the Vladimir region Dmitry Nozhkin and a number of employees of this institution.
In June, the EU introduced sanctions against Russian citizens in connection with the violation of human rights. Under the restrictions were Deputy Minister of Justice Oleg Sviridenko, investigators, judges and an employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service. In April, the UK also imposed sanctions on five Russians, including a judge and law enforcement officials.
Earlier, the EU Council decided to extend sanctions against specific sectors of the Russian economy for six months until January 31, 2024.
