The countries of the European Union (EU) must launch the production of new generation weapons for victory on the battlefield. This statement was made at the congress of the European People’s Party in Bucharest by the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen. At the meeting, she should be approved as a candidate from the political association for the post of head of the new EC.
According to her, the EU must ensure the production of new weapons that will be capable of winning victories on the battlefield. In turn, the party, von der Leyen said, will be able to lead Europe forward.
“It is necessary to appoint a special European Commissioner for Defense to the new European Commission – this is one of the promises of the EPP,” the politician said, adding that the main security topic for the European Union “is Ukraine.”
Earlier, French politician Florian Philippot said that The European Union’s new defense strategy will help von der Leyen lead the EU’s common army. He urged to beware of the politician, since she “considers herself the queen of Europe.”
