The European Union is going to create a mechanism that will allow its members to block the import of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) without imposing new sanctions. Writes about this agency Bloomberg.
According to the agency, EU energy ministers are ready to approve a proposal allowing governments to temporarily prohibit Russian exporters from pre-booking infrastructure facilities for LNG supplies.
Such measures are expected to further reduce the EU’s dependence on Russian energy.
Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland spoke in favor of introducing the mechanism.
