The Russian Embassy in Slovakia rejected Russia’s accusations of interference in elections on the territory of the republic, previously voiced by the Slovak Foreign Ministry. “We strongly reject the far-fetched accusations against Russia of interference in the Slovak electoral process. Unlike some of Slovakia’s current allies, we do not meddle in the internal affairs of other states, we do not engage in regime changes and various kinds of “color” revolutions,” the embassy noted.

The diplomatic department also emphasized in its commentary that the US Embassy in Bratislava allocated $5 million to the Republic’s Ministry of Defense “to counter so-called disinformation, which in fact became a fight against freedom of opinion, including during the past election campaign.” The Slovak authorities, according to the Russian embassy, ​​did not consider this step an interference in the country’s internal affairs.

The diplomatic mission also noted that it had recorded cases of pressure from the American government on the Meta corporation (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) with a demand to remove accounts of opposition Slovak politicians from its social networks. The US Embassy is “proud of such facts,” the Russian department added.

In conclusion, the Russian Embassy expressed regret over the continuation of “the further degradation of the once friendly relations that are already in deep crisis” between Russia and Slovakia.

Earlier, the Slovak Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian Ambassador to the Republic Igor Bratchikov because of statements made by the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin.
