The embassy called the new British sanctions against the Russians insignificant

The UK decision to extend sanctions against the Russians is unacceptable and legally null and void. This was stated at the Russian Embassy in London.

“We consider the decision of the British government of July 17 this year to subject another group of Russian citizens and organizations to unlawful unilateral restrictions as categorically unacceptable and legally null and void,” says in the statement of the diplomatic department (quote from TASS).

At the same time, the embassy emphasized that the fact that London uses the child protection argument as a pretext for sanctions is of particular indignation. The statement recalled that the restrictions against the Russians were introduced hours after the attack on the Crimean bridge, which left a 14-year-old girl orphaned, as well as after numerous Ukrainian attacks on civilians, which are carried out with the help of British-supplied weapons.

July 17 UK expanded list of individuals and companies subject to sanctions, by 14 positions. 13 people fell under the restrictions, including Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Moscow Region Ksenia Mishonova, adviser to the head of the DPR on children’s rights Eleonora Fedorenko, and others. The Artek children’s camp was also subject to sanctions. Support for the alleged “forced deportation of Ukrainian children” to Russia was cited as the reason for this decision.

Earlier, Kyiv accused Moscow of allegedly “abducting and forcibly deporting Ukrainian children” to Russia. Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova named these statements are false and cynical. According to her, more than 2 million people were evacuated to Russia from the republics of Donbass and dangerous territories of Ukraine. Of these, 325,000 are children. She clarified that all the people left voluntarily, “saving their lives and the lives of their children.”
