Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova assessed the past elections as open and transparent. According to her, it is currently impossible to hide even small things in the electoral process.
“The system is so open and transparent that, as I say, every little thing now instantly floats to the surface, even those violations that existed, which we sorted out. Thanks to our joint efforts, it is now impossible to hide anything in the electoral process,” she said at the Central Election Commission information center (quoted by TASS).
Ella Pamfilova said that in the presidential elections, the remote electronic voting system (DEG) will be used only by those 30 regions that already have such experience. This year, residents of 25 regions could vote using DEGs; the rest held such voting in previous years.
“We don’t have DEG everywhere, and it won’t be everywhere for a long time. We are approaching the presidential elections very carefully, based primarily on the security of the system,” noted Ms. Pamfilova.
She also commented information, previously cited by CEC member Igor Borisov, about 30 thousand attacks on DEG resources over the three-day election period. According to Ms. Pamfilova, such a large number of attacks indicates interest in the elections. She noted that the Central Election Commission takes this calmly.
