The eldest son of the ex-judge Yangulbaev was included in the list of extremists and terrorists

Chechen activist and former lawyer of the “Committee against Torture” (recognized as a foreign agent) Abubakar Yangulbaev was included in the list of extremists and terrorists, follows from the information on the website site Rosinfmonitoring. His Russian accounts will be blocked.

Abubakar Yangulbaev is outside Russia. On August 23, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia put Abubakar Yangulbaev on the federal wanted list. The article of the criminal code, under which the activist is wanted, was not indicated in the department’s database card.

On August 18, a criminal case was opened against Abubakar Yangulbaev for public calls for terrorism (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). Mr. Yangulbaeva himself reported that the reason was a post from 2022 about the death of Akhmat Kadyrov, the father of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.

July 1 Telegram channel Base reported that a criminal case had been opened against Abubakar Yangulbaev for “organizing an extremist group” (282.2 of the Criminal Code). The activist confirmed this information in his Telegram channel.

Abubakar Yangulbaev is the eldest son in the family of Saidi Yangulbaev, a former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya. In December 2021, his younger brothers Ibragim and Baysangur were accused of calling for terrorism because of posts on the Telegram channel of the Adat opposition movement (included in the list of banned public associations and religious organizations), and subsequently put on the wanted list.

Saydi Yangulbaev left Russia in 2022, when Chechen security forces took his wife Zarema Musaeva from an apartment in Nizhny Novgorod. In July 2023, her sentenced to 5.5 years in a penal colony on charges of committing violence against a government official (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code) and fraud (part 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code).
