The editor-in-chief of Yakutia.Info was fined 30 thousand rubles for discrediting the Russian army

The Yakutsk city court fined 30 thousand rubles. Timofey Efremov, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Yakutia.Info, for discrediting the RF Armed Forces. The reason for initiating an administrative case was a comment by Mr. Efremov to the Dozhd TV channel (called up by a foreign agent), in which he used the word “front”, follows from decreespublished in the case card.

On October 25, Timofei Efremov commented to Dozhd about a protest against partial mobilization in Yakutsk.

“According to the media that we observe, it was reported that the men who were detained at these events were immediately handed a summons and sent to the recruiting station there. Apparently something like this was expected. But now the women have gathered, but you can’t send a woman to the front, ”he said on the air (quote from SakhaNews).

As follows from the court ruling, the judge recognized the use of the word “front” in the context of the military operation in Ukraine as discrediting the RF Armed Forces.

“The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the President of Russia (in an address dated September 21, 2022) did not use the word “front”, but used “line of contact”. The word “front” is applicable to the conflict denoted by the word “war”,” the document says.

On September 21, Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization in the country. Following him, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu gave a detailed commentary on how the mobilization will proceed. Describing the situation in the special operation zone in Ukraine, he used the word “front” (quoted from TASS): “The line of contact itself, you can call it both the front line and the line of contact – it is more than a thousand kilometers.”
