The Economist: Starlink blocked the use of terminals by Kiev over new regions of Russia

The Economist, citing a source in Ukrainian military intelligence, reported that Starlink terminals do not work in new regions of Russia when the Armed Forces of Ukraine try to use them to launch drones.
“Starlink now uses geofencing,” the post says.
The Ukrainian source noted that in this way it is possible to block the use of terminals in a particular area. In this case, the network blocked the signal over the territories controlled by Russia.
In addition, the source said that the signals are blocked over water, as well as when the receiving device is moving at a speed of more than 100 kilometers per hour.
As a result, the Ukrainian military has to use more expensive communications systems to launch drones behind Russian lines.
