The European Commission (EC) notes a surge in incidents related to anti-Semitism in the EU countries. This is stated in the EC statement. They clarified that what was happening “reminiscent of the darkest times in the history” of Europe.

“The surge in anti-Semitic incidents in Europe in the past few days has reached extraordinary levels, reminiscent of a dark time in history. Today, European Jews once again live in fear,” the report said.

Several incidents related to anti-Semitism were cited as examples. One of these occurred in Germany, where a synagogue was pelted with Molotov cocktails. In turn, in France, stars of David were painted on the facades of houses, in Austria a Jewish cemetery was desecrated, and in Spain, Jewish shops and synagogues were attacked.

The statement also says that the European Commission strongly condemns such anti-Semitic actions.
