The Dutch prosecutor’s office fined four Dutch companies 160,000 euros for their participation in the construction of the Crimean bridge. writes Reuters with reference to the department’s statement.

The department emphasized that such measures were taken in connection with violation of EU sanctions in the period from 2014 to 2017. The companies supplied Moscow with machine tools, parts, machinery and provided other services for the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait. “The Crimean Bridge was built partly thanks to the use of Dutch knowledge and experience,” follows from the prosecutor’s office.

In addition to fines for the companies, eight people were sentenced to community service ranging from 20 to 60 hours. The agency also confiscated 71,300 euros from one of the companies as “illegally obtained benefits.”

In March the prosecutor’s office reportedwhich opened 45 criminal cases against companies and individuals suspected of circumventing anti-Russian sanctions.

The Crimean Bridge is one of the largest in Russia, its length is 19 km. It consists of parallel road (two lanes in each direction) and railway (one track) routes. Its construction began in 2016. The automobile part was opened to traffic in 2018, and the railway connection was launched in 2019.
