The State Duma approved in the first reading the law on the right of security forces to stop any UAVs
The State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the first reading a bill according to which law enforcement officers will have the right to stop the movement of any drones. It is proposed to expand the powers for the National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the FSO, the SVR, the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Main Directorate of Special Programs under the President. It is also planned to give authority to employees of departmental security.
The document says that these departments will receive expanded powers “to suppress the use of not only unmanned aerial vehicles”, but also all types of “unmanned vehicles (robotic systems)” – water, ground and others.
Prevention of use, as stated in the bill, includes the destruction or damage, as well as the suppression of remote control signals.
