The Duma called for the start of phased payments on Soviet deposits

The leader of the party “A Just Russia – For Truth” Sergei Mironov said that it is necessary to develop a program of phased payments for Soviet deposits. This is stated in the release received by the editorial office of MK.
Earlier, State Duma deputies voted to extend the suspension of deposit payments until 2027. The faction “A Just Russia – For Truth” voted against this initiative.
According to Mironov, Soviet people trusted their savings to the bank. Then their funds were frozen. A huge number of citizens were left without their own savings. Today, the largest joint-stock bank in Eastern Europe makes profits of hundreds of billions of rubles, but cannot pay people the money they once lost.
The deputy also commented on the proposal to return deposits in the form of additional funds for pensions. In his opinion, this initiative seems dubious, since the additional payments will be inadequate to the amounts that people kept in banks. In this situation, they will return some money at a low rate.
“The state must recognize the debt to citizens and their heirs, change the policy in the field of income and expenses and begin at least phased payments on deposits,” Mironov concluded.
