Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications Andrey Svintsov in a conversation with the radio station “Moscow speaks” commented on the anti-Semitic unrest in Dagestan, saying that so far we are not talking about classifying the actions of citizens as terrorist.

According to the parliamentarian, for now the authorities will not say that the incident was of a terrorist nature. Svintsov indicated that, most likely, this is more like hooliganism, which also falls under the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. As the deputy noted, the situation needs to be studied so that innocent people do not suffer.

The deputy chairman of the Duma committee clarified that today, because of what is happening in both the Middle East and Ukraine, people are in an extremely emotionally excited state, and any “spark” leads to such serious consequences. Svintsov noted that one and a half million people came out in Turkey, and this protest was led by the country’s president. In the case of Dagestan, according to the deputy, the protest against certain events was not supported by the authorities, and here this falls under the article “Hooliganism”.
