The Duma adopted a law on social payments for housing to the families of security forces killed in the Northern Military District

The State Duma adopted in the third reading bill, which gives the right to the families of deceased participants in the military operation in Ukraine from among former employees of the internal affairs bodies, the Federal Penitentiary Service, the Federal Bailout Service, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Federal Customs Service of Russia and prosecutors to receive a one-time social payment for the purchase or construction of housing.

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Vasily Piskarev said in Telegramthat the bill was passed unanimously. He clarified that the payment, in accordance with the adopted federal law, will be received by family members and parents of those killed during the period of military service by mobilization, military service under a contract, or while in a volunteer formation. In addition, the right to receive the payment will extend to all combat veterans from among the former employees of the Department of Internal Affairs, and not just to veterans of the war in Afghanistan, as written in the current law.

In the explanatory (.pdf) in the note to the bill, the authors of the initiative point out that, according to the current law, former employees of a number of law enforcement agencies can count on a one-time social payment for housing after ten years of service, but their family is deprived of this right if they leave the authorities and go to the military service.
