Eating a large amount of greens is dangerous for the health of some categories of people, said doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.
He noted that any greens contain vitamin K, which is known as an antagonist of the blood-thinning drug warfarin. Therefore, if a person, for medical reasons, is forced to take warfarin on an ongoing basis, then the consumption of green vegetables and herbs should be limited.
In addition, according to Myasnikov, an excessive passion for greenery can be fraught with urolithiasis. At the same time, he did not recommend excluding greens from the diet, as it contains many important and beneficial elements for the body, the doctor said. For example, the aforementioned vitamin K strengthens bones and reduces the risk of fractures.
Also, green vegetables and grass contain a large amount of folic acid, which plays an important role in the prevention of tumor and cardiovascular diseases. “For cores, greens are one of the most useful things,” Myasnikov emphasized.
Greens also help reduce the likelihood of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.
