The chief therapist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences Oksana Drapkina in her Telegram channel told how to preserve your health and figure during the New Year holidays.
The most important danger, according to her, is “holiday heart syndrome” – an acute disturbance of heart rhythm in a healthy person due to alcohol consumption.
“Alcohol and its metabolic products have a toxic effect on the muscle cells of the heart and the nervous system, which leads to disruption of normal heart rhythm… To prevent unpleasant consequences, you should not overeat or overdose on alcohol,” Drapkina said.
She also recommended having a full breakfast and lunch on December 31, so as not to gorge on food and drinks at the holiday table.
