Dentist-orthopedist, orthodontist Sergey Kovalchuk told how to prevent dental problems in children and gave advice on the frequency of visiting a children’s dentist.
“The most common problems in children are caries, that is, damage to the hard tissue of the teeth, and malocclusion,” declared Kovalchuk in a conversation with Moslenta.
According to him, caries can develop from the age of two. To avoid premature loss of milk teeth and complications, you need to avoid vitamin and microelement deficiencies, take a responsible approach to cleaning, and visit the dentist at least once every six months.
Malocclusion is also dangerous, because teeth in an unnatural position are erased and destroyed. In addition, imbalance in the dental system can lead to displacement of the vertebrae and pelvis, hypertonicity, posture disorders, muscle soreness and spasm, as well as chronic headaches. Malocclusion can disturb the child and his parents in terms of aesthetics.
According to the doctor, “observation by an orthodontist from the age of four or five will help to avoid such problems,” because “sometimes special structures are enough to prevent the development of dysfunctions: for example, plates or expanders, and sometimes just a set of exercises.”
